ABOUT BOB:

Robert McQueen, Chief Information Officer, started in the Township of Princeton as a 911 Communications officer in 1998.  Shortly after construction began on a new municipal building.  Technology in the Township was handled by a single police officer at that time.  As the construction moved forward, that officer needed additional assistance with the technology needs.  So Bob was given a position of Technology Coordinator.  Bob assisted with setting up the new network and technology infrastructure in the new municipal building, and in 2006 the Township established a department of Information Technology.  Bob was offered the position of IT Director.  In 2010 Bob graduated from the CGCIO program offered through the University of North Carolina, and his official title was changed to Chief Information Officer.  New Jersey has numerous towns that are considered donut holes.  This means that one town sits in the middle of another larger community.  The Governor is pressing for these towns to consolidate into one community in an effort to reduce taxes.  The Borough of Princeton NJ and The Township of Princeton NJ are consolidated into one municipality in January 2013.  Bob was the CIO in charge of all of the technology aspects for this consolidation.  He is working closely with a Technology Subcommittee in managing this project.  Currently there are 566 municipalities in the state of New Jersey, and this is the first time two municipalities have come together as one.  Bob has been a member of NJ GMIS since 2007 and has served as Municipal Rep, Vice President, and currently President.  Bob represents NJGMIS by speaking at various conferences throughout the state each year.
